Molar Madness

This Monday, I lay in a chair and allowed a total stranger to poke and prod in my mouth for more than 2 hours. And, I actually paid him dearly for it. It’s amazing what you will put up with when your teeth are aching.

What led up to this? I was flossing and a crown popped out. After that it was sensitive to temperature and pressure. My dentist checked it out but, alas, recommended seeing an endodontist ( a root canal guy).

Well, after several x-rays, some drilling and what seemed like hours of using tiny little files to get all the roots out of one tooth, my crown is back on. The doc recommends eating only soft food and chewing on the other side of the mouth for a few days. Plus, I’m taking these foul tasting antibiotic pills. The good news is my tooth doesn’t hurt anymore!

After a couple of days of soup, soup and more soup, I’m proclaiming beers and ales as soft food. Tonight, I’ll walk to Sapwood Cellars to test out my rootless molar on a 4-oz pour of Hop Gem.

Here is Sapwood Cellars description of Hop Gem:

Hop Gem – 6.7% ABV: We strive for balance in most of our IPAs. Sweetness counteracting bitterness, juicy aromatics played against dank or herbaceous. Not on this one. Hop Gem is the successor to Hop Swirl with more body and less bitterness than our typical formula. This one is hopped with Idaho Gem, Sultana, and Lemondrop for a hop aroma that has notes of lemon, pineapple, and red fruit.

I’ll let you know how it tastes!

Cheers!
