Union Happy Birthday & Beer Reads

It looks like the cool weather of Deep Creek Lake has followed me to Columbia, MD. We finally have a few days under 90°.

It glows!

It was nice to get back together with the Pint Night crew at Frisco. It was Union’s 7th year anniversary. I celebrated with an Older Pro (Chardonnay Barrel-Aged w/ Peaches). It was wonderfully sour. I tasted more lemon than peach but still loved it. We also received some glow-in-the-dark glasses. They don’t seem to be pint glasses but fun.

In Pint Night news, Mark will drink his 100th beer at Frisco next Wednesday and celebrate his mug club status by chugging a Natty Boh – a weird tradition, I know. All mug club members, dig out your T-shirt (aka Mr. Scratchy) for the party.

Also, today, at 1:00 PM, we’ll be headed to Sapwood Cellars for our monthly walk from Thunder Hill to one of our favorite breweries.

Craft Beer Reads

On this beautiful August Saturday, I hope you find yourself outside enjoy the deliciously cool, dry weather. But when you do come inside, prop up your feet, grab a cold one and enjoy these craft beer reads.

Uproxx, We Had Brewers Tell Us The One IPA You Have To Try. I heartedly agree with all the beers listed that I have tried – Two Hearted, Blind Pig, Celebration & IPAs from Tired Hands and Trillium. Consider the others a delightful challenge.

VinePair, Texas Gose Mad for Sour Pickle Beer. Weird sounding beer but a great title.

DC Beer, The Beauty of Barrett Lauer. A DC legend.

Boston Globe, The craft beer industry has a diversity problem. Thanks, Nancy, for this inciteful article.

Cheers!

Warren
