Saturday Beer Reads from Deep Creek

Escaping the oppressive heat in Columbia, MD, we loaded up the Bolt and headed west to Deep Creek Lake. The lake was deep and the weather was cool. We had many adventures visiting state parks, renting a pontoon boat for a couple days and even trying our hand at ax throwing.

I did try a flight at Mountain State Brewing, a nearby brewpub. I enjoyed Miner’s Daughter Oatmeal Stout but doubt I’d seek out their beers again. The pizza was super.

This weekend, while you are escaping from the sweltering heat or intermittent thunderstorms, take a moment to peruse these craft beer reads.

God Save the Keg, Sometimes I just want a Stout. It looks delicious, Pierce.

VinePair, 11 U.S. Beer Bars You Need To Visit Before You DieIt’s an interesting list. I have only been to the last 2 – Ebenezer’s Pub and Thirsty Monk. Both are exceptional.

Chicago Tribune, Canned sour beers that explode with flavor, but won’t explode the can.

VinePair, 10 Things You Know About Brooklyn BreweryNever been but it’s on my bucket list. Love their beer and love Garrett Oliver’s, “The Brewmaster’s Table: Discovering the Pleasures of Real Beer with Real Food”.

The Motley Fool, Craft Beer Keeps Growing as Consumers Go Local. It looks like microbreweries are where the growth is. Drink local!

Cheers!

  1. Drinking a nice cold beer while cruisin’ on a pontoon boat sounds pretty great. Does that mean Amy was driving??
