Baltimore fireworks from the Four Seasons Hotel

Independence Day Beer Reads

This long 2019 Fourth of July weekend has been hot and muggy…but busy and fun. The family saw the Baltimore fireworks from the Four Seasons Hotel. And they served Brewers Art Resurrection! On the 5th, we saw private fireworks in Virginia, courtesy of Brian and Tim – up close and personal! Despite the heat, I’ve made frequent visits to the garden – the harvests just keep on coming!

Beer Reads

VinePair, George Washington: A Profile In Wine, Beer & Whiskey. Apparently, the father of our country was a porter fan. I love George Washington’s recipe. His instructions call for boiling bran hops for 3 hours, adding a ton of molasses and heating until scalding hot, then “Let this stand till it is little more than Blood warm”, then cover with a blanket to cool. Interestingly, there is no mention of grain. DBear, Pierce, Jim? Is this worthy of an experiment?

Baltimore Sun, ‘If you’re from Catonsville, you understand’: State Fare, Jailbreak release July 4-themed Game of Chairs beer. I’m not from Catonsville, so I don’t understand but it sounds like fun.

friscotaphouse, Happy Little Birthdays. Happy birthday to a Howard County treasure! Keith (sometimes confused with Bob Ross) is one of HoCo’s most knowledgeable and respected beer guys.

VinePair, Ask Adam: Do People Who Drink Beer Get Bitten by Mosquitoes More? This explains a lot. Mrs. Adventures likes to keep me close when outside because I’m a mosquito magnet.

God Save the Keg, Lemondrop Hefe. A nice looking beer!

Cheers!
