Hot Beer Reads

For this very hot weekend, I’ve found a few interesting craft beer reads – the links are listed below. Also, here’s some important local news (at least to me); Sapwood Cellars is now open on Wednesdays, 2:00-10:00.

It is hot in France and here in Columbia, MD. Despite the week’s heat, I walked to Sapwood Cellars twice, once to celebrate Sapwood’s expanding hours and again to watch the US women’s soccer team win 2-1 against France. As an added bonus, I collected a few homebrews from my buddy, Pierce.

Beer Reads

UPROXX, The Best Belgian Beers To Drink This Summer, According To Brewers. I’m a big fan of Belgian beers. Just reading this list makes me thirsty! My Devil’s Dad is my version of a Saison DuPont and should be bottled in a week or so.

The Craft Beer Channel, The Alchemist: getting to the heart of Heady Topper | The Craft Beer Channel. Thanks to Pierce for this terrific youtube link! I see a trip to Vermont in my future.

VinePair, We Asked 16 Brewers: What’s the ‘Weirdest’ Beer You Ever Tried to Brew? I’ve always wanted to try a horseradish beer. Yesterday, I introduced a few friends to spicy radish pods; perhaps that would make an interesting brew. But…DBear and I are definitely making a rhubarb beer just for Jim!

Brewdog, Hello, My Name is Elvis. This blog post about Elvis Presley’s estate suing Brewdog over the name Elvis Juice is silly, matching the tone of this ridiculous copyright suit. I love their blog post’s references to Presley song titles. BTW, Elvis Juice is a grapefruit rind IPA, currently on tap at Frisco Tap House Crofton, and reportedly delicious by Pierce.

DR BLUES, NO LEVEL OF ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IMPROVES HEALTH. I found this rising Belgian beer producer by serendipitously browsing the internet. Speaking out about the negative health effects of alcohol on a craft beer blog is like MSNBC reporting their support for President Trump. But, if DR BLUES can do it, this little craft beer blog can too. Oh, and for those who don’t know the meaning of my new favorite word, here’s a link explaining serendipity.

Cheers!

Warren

  1. Yes Elvis Juice is very good and the law suite is stupid… so was the Canadians complaining about CBS.
