Saturday Beer Reads

Hey there, craft beer nation. It is the weekend already. Stay warm, have a beer and read these gems about the world of beer.

As you know, in 2017, I attempted to visit 59 Maryland breweries in 2017. I was 3 breweries shy of that daunting task. So, I am humbled by Emily Bennett who visited all 323 Michigan breweries in 2017. Wow!

Jim Steinhardt of Steinhardt Brewing (Maryland Brewery Challenge #43), will be stopping by the Perfect Pour for a tasting event today (Saturday, January 27th, 2018) from 5:00 PM –  8:00 PM. Jim brews some really fantastic beer – try his Tupelo Honey Stout.

With Super Bowl 2018 just around the corner, Bud Light promises Philadelphia Free Beer if the Eagles win. I know, I know, Budweiser is the antithesis of craft beer but Philly is such a great beer town. The Columbia Pint Night crew has attended Philly Beer Week and we love this wonderful beer town.

Feeling a little tired? Maybe complaining about your age? Stop your whining and read about the amazing “Zadie” Benesch, the 98-year-old employee of Baltimore’s Union Craft Brewery.

If you are a homebrewer, you should thank Charlie Papazian – the man who taught many of us to homebrew through his book The Complete Joy of Homebrewing. Well, the founder of the American Homebrewers Association and the Brewers Association has decided to finally retire. Using his own words – Charlie, relax, have a homebrew.

Cheers!
