Saturday Beer Reads

It is beautiful weather for all of today’s beer festivals, like Hops and Harvest (Columbia, MD), Denizen (Silver Spring), and the Maryland Microbrewery Festival (Westminster, MD).  Sometime this weekend, when you need a little downtime, I’ve found a few articles and podcasts for you.

Check out historian Maureen O’Prey’s post about the craft of barrel making: The fine art of Coopers.

It looks like the owners of  Annapolis Homebrew are starting their own brewery, Cult Classic, in Chester, MD next Spring.

It is hard to believe that Guinness Brewing will open next month in Relay, MD.

Also, I have a couple podcasts for you, both with Naptown Pint’s Liz Murphy. One features Maryland beer hero and Comptroller, Peter Franchot on Chris Sands’ Uncappd. The other is the Naptown Pintcast interview with Crooked Crab team.

Cheers!
