I picked a rum barrel-aged coconut Baltic Porter for a Sunday family dinner.
I pulled this dark porter from my Rare Beer collection. Broken Bow Brewery is in the small village of Tuckahoe, NY, just 15 miles from midtown Manhattan.
After letting this dark, boozy ale sit on the counter for about an hour, we cracked it open. The wax cap covered a standard bottle cap. The ale poured a dark brown with an off-white head. The aromatics gave a hint of cherry and sweet honey and rum. The 9% beer tasted of cocoa, with vague hints of cherry and coconut. Overall it had a surprisingly soft taste, hiding the boozy content. Delicious!
Cheers!
