mmmm Chocolate

It’s only 5 days ’til Christmas. Before Santa comes down the chimney, I plan to try a Christmas beer or two.

This time of year, I favor Homer Simpson’s love of chocolate. If you listen closely, you might hear me say mmmm Chocolate. Chocolate beers like Sam Smith Organic Chocolate Stout, Southern Tier Choklat, or even Terrapin Moo Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout are some of my go to chocolate ales this time of year.

Of the 3 Rare Beer Club Christmas beers in my stash, (Sin & Remorse, Cyclo Stout, & 12 Drummers Drumming) Cyclo Stout is the chocolate one.

This beer from the Pasteur Street Brewing Company of Saigon, Vietnam took gold from the 2016 World Cup in the chocolate-beer category. This velvety smooth 13% beer uses cacao beans, vanilla and cinnamon all from Vietnam. It is not sweet but if you like dark chocolate this is for you. I found it delicious with chocolate cookies. I loved the orange tinge to the head and substantial body to this remarkable, rare beer. (hint: let it warm up before tasting it.)

Read the New York Times review, The Best Chocolate You’ve Never Tasted about this amazing beer.

Cheers!
