Pumpkin Ale 2019

I finally bottled my Pumpkin Ale. Following our family Thanksgiving tradition, we’ll dispense this ale from a hollowed-out pumpkin. The beer will be served in glasses rimmed with brown sugar.

A month back or so, three of us brewed this Pumpkin Ale loosely following the Maryland Homebrew recipe. You can read about the brewing experience here.

I like to bottle homebrews so that I can give out bottles to friends. The dishwasher works as my bottling station and helps prevent most spills. The uncarbonated beer smells delicious but the taste was unexpected and a bit disappointing. I can’t put my finger on the taste but hope a little age in the bottles resolves things. We will see.

The bottles are capped. I’ll work on a pumpkin label in the next week or so. I just print out the labels on regular printer paper and brush whole milk on the label as a mild glue. It is inexpensive and makes for easy label removal.

  1. Either I’ve had one too many homebrews tonight or all those photos are sideways. Unfortunately, I think it’s the later.

    1. It’s good to know someone is actually reading the blog. The pics appear upright on my phone. I’ll check on my laptop when I get a chance. Thanks for alerting me.

    2. I checked my laptop, as well. All pics are still upright. This reminds me of my IT support days when we couldn’t repeat a users problem, we’d say, among ourselves – “Mine’s not like that”. I’ll ask around.
