Craft Beer Reads

Happy Passover, Easter and Earth Day! All these springtime holidays are a celebration of life. For me, the whole family will join us for Easter dinner. It will be a great time to see everyone plus a chance to empty my fridge of a few beers!

During this weekend, try to find a quiet time to curl up with your favorite beverage and mull over the following craft beer reads.

God Save the Keg, Kolsch – The Results Are In! I’m grappling with the results of Pierce’s entry for the National Homebrew Competition. I thought the Kolsch was pretty good and really didn’t taste the off flavor mentioned by one judge — I didn’t taste any bandaid. Pierce is a friend, so maybe my judgment is a bit skewed. Or maybe my tastebuds are just not that refined. I could see the beer missing the Kolsch category style; perhaps hazier and maltier than the style dictates. Here’s a pic.

Baltimore Business Journal, The List: Maryland’s largest breweries. Wow! Maryland now has about 100 breweries and 12 more on the way. So many breweries, so little time!

Thrillist, How Craft Breweries Are Saving the Planet, One Pint at a Time. Happy Earth Day! It is comforting to know my beer consumption is so benevolent.

USA Today, ‘I feel like I’m in my 20s’: Ohio man’s Lenten, beer-only fast comes to an end. Maybe next year?

Cheers!
