Craft Beer Reads

On this rainy morning, I’ll join a friend and my oldest son for a journey north to my birthplace – Havre de Grace, MD. We will spend the afternoon at Havre de Grace’s Lock House Wine and Beer Festival, hopefully under sunny skies. Below are a few more craft beer reads to enjoy this weekend.

Sapwood Cellars Boom, Roots!
Sapwood Cellars Boom, Roots!

The Mad Fermentationist, Dark Funky Saison – A Retrospective. It is fun to watch Michael Tonsmeire reminisce over 10 years of his dark saison homebrews. It was fun for me to taste some of his professionally brewed beers at Sapwood Cellars like Boom, Roots! pictured above.

VinePair, The Best Beercations for Every Type of Traveler. I’ve been to Asheville, NC but the rest of these destinations are just wishful dreams.

Maryland Craft Beer Festival. On May 11th, 3 of us will be taking the BAMBUS from Jailbreak to Frederick for an afternoon of fun.

Cheers!

Warren

    1. Rich, Thanks for your comment. I have had Boom, Roasted! It is Sapwood Cellar’s 2nd stout, this one an English imperial oatmeal stout. I liked it but for the high ABV and woodsy flavors. Boom, Roots! is a modification of Boom, Roasted! tasting a lot like root beer. Sapwood added ginger, licorice, wintergreen leaves and vanilla beans for an interesting flavored beer. There are only 36 entries in Untappd for this limited release ale. Boom, Roots!
