Beer Reads

Happy Saturday! What a  great week we’ve had here in Columbia, MD. I’ve been enjoying the beautiful sunny days and relatively cool weather with low humidity. But all things must end. The weatherman is predicting a week of rain lot s of rain headed our way today. Perfect weather for staying inside and catching up on the craft beer world. I’ve found a few articles for your amusement. Enjoy!

Tom Brady (I’m assuming not the QB) sent this relatively interesting map summarizing pubs in the UK.

I’ll be seeing Mike Tonsmeire (the Mad Fermentationist) today for a how to make a sour beer class at Maryland Homebrew. He is the author of this thought-provoking diagram about craft breweries owned by big beer companies.

For those craft beer enthusiasts stuck in a rut, VinePair’s 9 Mistakes Everyone Makes Buying Craft Beer, is an eye-opener.

I have what seems like hundreds of shaker glasses or American pint glasses (thank you Frisco Tap House and their pint night). Here is why you actually shouldn’t serve beer in a pint glass.

My friend and extreme craft beer enthusiast/homebrewer, Pierce, now has his own blog. Here’s his Hop Update.

I’m not a huge witbier enthusiast, but I do enjoy the grandfather of these easy drinking craft beers, Hoegaarden. Get the scoop on this remarkable, innovative beer.

I almost forgot. My brother had a Bourbon Barrel White (a Curieux clone) socked away for 2 years waiting for the perfect time to sample it. That time happened last week. This collaborative beer that dBear and I made held up well. This tripel was smooth, boozy and delicious!
