More Saturday Beer Reads

February 10th, 2018

After watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies last night, I’m ready to get out and do something today. Last Saturday, I made a beer in Brewer’s Hill with my son and friends. The original gravity was low, so I’ll be adding some sugar (either honey or dry malt extract) to get the alcohol content and flavor up. Also, I have an electric strap that we can use to regulate the temperature of the wort since the house is a bit cool. Fun times!

Below are some craft beer articles that I found interesting. Enjoy.

The Chicago Tribune has picked Cat Spit Stout as the Beer of the Month. Despite the name, it sounds delicious.

A few years back, we stayed in Hot Springs, Arkansas for a few days. I was surprised by the craft beer presence. Apparently, Arkansas and Hot Springs, in particular, are booming with craft beer, according to Rock City Eats.

This spring, look for Top Chef winner Brooke Williamson’s collaborative beer to be released in 30 states. You can read about Grey Girl, described as a Belgian-style beer with tastes of almond and Earl Grey. I’ll be looking for it.

Here are a couple pieces of local beer info. The new Maryland brewery, Guinness, speaks out against HB 1052. Also, just for fun, here are Beer Advocates top Maryland beers – what do you think?

Cheers!
