Brewer’s Art at Frisco

Wednesday Pint Night at Frisco Taphouse

Every Wednesday at Frisco, a brewer is featured. We regularly show up around 7:00 PM, drink at least one of the brewer’s brews and take home a pint glass.

We missed the last pint night due to the Febrewary homebrew contest at Black Flag. We had some catching up to do, so Keith, the Frisco manager, and Steven from Bond Distributing both chatted with us for quite a while. The pint night crew brought in some of their 4th place homebrews to share (check out the Frebrewary post). I’m also trying to arrange a brewery tour of Push (Frisco’s brewery).

This week featured Brewer’s Art, a local favorite from Baltimore. Here are the Frisco Brewer’s Art beers:

Resurrection – Belgian Brown Ale
Zeke’s Coffee Porter  – porter
Rye Lager – Rye Beer
Penguin Pils – Pilsner
Biere de Mars – Bier de Garde
Inoculum – Belgian pale ale
I had a Resurrection, probably Brewer’s Art’s most well-known beer. Untappd categorizes it as a Brown Ale – Belgian. It tastes a lot like a brown ale, with just a hint of Belgian yeast. I noticed it gets better as it sits and warms.  Beer Advocate(BA) ranks it Very Good (86).  BA calls it a dubbel, but I like Untappd’s brown ale description better.
Brewer’s Art posted their notes  in BA on Resurrection:
“During the fermentation of the first batch of this
Abbey-style dubbel, the yeast «died» and was
«resurrected» by brewer Chris Cashell. Made with five types of barley malt and lots of sugar, this beer is quite strong and flavorful, without being too sweet. 7%abv”
My beer palate is pretty broad, but rye is not among my favorites. I’m trying to develop a taste for ryes and give them a try at every opportunity. I tried their Rye Lager, and found it fruity with a Rye spiciness. Not bad, but still not my cup of tea.
The blog had a little mishap this morning. I spilled water on my notebook, which is now in the shop. Today I’m posting using an IPad – a very awkward process. I hope to have a real keyboard back soon.
Cheers!
Warren

  1. At least you spilled water on your notebook and not beer. That would be such a waste.

  2. You are too funny. If it had been beer, that laptop would have been destroyed.

  3. laptop update: now the keyboard needs replacement. I’m using a public computer for my next blog.
