#12 of the Maryland Brewery Challenge
Last night, we spent an evening at the Brookeville Beer Farm with FrankAboutBeer. We had a great time hanging with old and new friends, experiencing a new brewery and tasting fantastic beers. We even met up with Kenny, our old friend from Maryland Homebrew and brewer of the Brookeville Beer Farm.
Our last pickup in Columbia was in River Hill. We just followed Ten Oaks/Brighton Dam all the way to Georgia Avenue, a quick 20-minute drive, even during rush hour. There is quite a wow factor when first entering the Brookeville brewery. Impressive woodwork is everywhere, giving the place an elegant but homey feel.
We took a table with our new friends of Frank About Beer. Christian and Eric (neither named Frank) organize monthly beer excursions using social media. These craft beer enthusiasts are a lot of fun. We had Frank About Beer flights and ate some tasty pizza.
The Beers:
- The Philsner – a nice floral pilsner.
- Happenchance Witbier – a tasty wit with orange.
- 16 Bar Stools – a very sweet Belgian tripel.
- Ridiculous – a cream stout. Are those raisins I taste?
- Interdependence – Fruity IPA with a grapefruit finish.
- Route 97 – Nice DIPA. Pineapple nose. Fruity taste with hoppy finish. Easy to drink. Yum.
- Grain Batter – This is a “table beer”. It is a honey sweet, low ABV beer. Sort of a house beer. Nice and easy drinking.
Cheers!
Warren
