Victory Brewing Company Pint Night at Frisco Tap House

Victory is ours!

Wednesday night means pint night at Friscos in Columbia. Tonight’s brewer is Victory Brewing Company of Downington, PA.

Too busy to research the beer list, I assumed I’d order a Golden Monkey, one of my favorites. I looked forward to savoring its honey sweet taste along with those exotic spices. Well, there was no Golden Monkey on tap, so I had to be adventurous.

The Beers

The previous night, we discussed wanting to try a beer with hazelnuts in it. Something along the lines of a stout with lots and lots of hazelnut

flavor. As luck would have it, on the Frisco beer list was just the beer — Victory Blackboard Series #4 Oatmeal Porter with Hazelnut.  It is a sweet, creamy porter with lots of hazelnuts. I found it delicious, but then, I love hazelnuts. And just for ordering a Victory beer, I was given a cool glass.

Other Victory beers sampled were the Hop Ranch Imperial IPA – good but nothing special.  On the hand, Jubilee is a unique, celebratory beer, my first Bier de Champagne. At 12% ABV, it tastes more like a fruity wine than a beer. Victory Brewing says “Join the Jubilee as we toast 21 years of Victory! This lush and decadent Biere de Champagne has been fermented with Champagne yeast to marry the lively and effervescent character of sparkling wines with the rich, fruit-forward flavors of Belgian-style ales. German Blanc hops impart aromas of pear, apple, and white grape while citrus and spice flavors culminate in a crisp, wine-like finish.”

Someone ordered the Java Cask, a world class imperial stout. It’s rich and complex with huge amounts of  coffee. For coffee lovers, this one is a must. Also sampled, was the Headwaters Pale Ale. We agree with BA’s assessment, a pretty good pale ale.

Cheers!
